Albion will meet one of the new generation of Premier League referees when they take on West Ham.

Sam Barrott, a West Yorkshireman and former Halifax youth player, will have the whistle at the London Stadium.

He made his Prem reffing debut this season at the age of 30.

Barrott has refereed in both the top two tiers this season, showing 72 yellow cards and three reds in 21 fixtures.

His two most recent games, and three of his last four, have been in the Championship, most recently the high profile Boxing Day clash between Ipswich and Leicester.

He sent off Raul Jimenez after a pitchside monitor review in his last Prem game as Newcastle beat Fulham 3-0.

That was his eighth top-flight appointment so far.

Barrott took up officiating at the age of 15 after suffering a long-term injury while playing for the Halifax academy.

Previous appointments include the FA Vase final of 2022, in which Littlehampton played Newport Pagnell at Wembley.

Rob Jones will be on VAR duty.

The full officiating team for West Ham v Albion is as follows.

Referee: Sam Barrott. Assistants: Marc Perry, Nick Hopton. Fourth official: John Brooks. VAR: Rob Jones. Assistant VAR: Tim Wood.
