Roberto De Zerbi hopes Albion have not suffered another significant injury setback.
Kaoru Mitoma left the action as his side drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace.
He was wearing a protective boot and using crutches as he made the walk of 50 yards or so from changing room to the team bus after the game.
The use of such equipment does not necessarily mean a bad injury and may have been precautionary.
De Zerbi said: “I hope it will be not a big injury – for him, for us.
“But I don’t know. We will see in the next days.”
Fitness permitting, Mitoma is expected to depart for Asia Cup action with Japan after the trip to West Ham on January 2.
