Albion youngster Samy Chouchane has signed a new contract.

The Tunisia under-20 midfielder, who has also worked with the senior national squad, now has a deal until the end of next season.

He was on the bench for recent Europa League matches and is a key player for an under-21s outfit who have progressed to the last 16 of the Bristol Street Motors EFL Trophy.

Albion technical director David Weir said: “Samy has worked his way up through our age group teams and recently been involved with the first-team group.

“That’s testament to his attitude, hard work and development in the three years he has been with us, and this new contract is a reward for that.”

Chouchane played all but the final moments as Albion under-21s shared a relatively uneventful 0-0 draw at home to Leicester in Premier League 2.

Their next tie in the Trophy, against Reading’s senior squad, will take place at the Amex on Tuesday, January 9 (7pm) with tickets on general sale from tomorrow, priced £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Prices rise by £5 on matchday.

The under-21s face Lyon at Lancing this Wednesday.
