Fans have heard how Jarred Gillett decided Chelsea should have had a penalty against Albion.

A spot kick conceded by James Milner and converted by Enzo Fernandez ultimately secured the hosts a 3-2 win over Albion.

That decision  was branded "a shocker" on Match Of The Day as pundits assessed the match.

The incident featured in the fourth instalment of Match Officials: Mic'd Up, which takes fans behind the scenes at recent refereeing decisions.

Milner tracked a run by Mykhaylo Mudryk and ushered the ball back to his goalkeeper with an intervention which referee Craig Pawson felt was a fair challenge.

As Mudryk goes down, Pawson shouts: “Side to side, nothing more.”

However, at Stockley Park, video ref Gillett disagrees.

He can be heard saying: “For me, the defender doesn’t play the ball, steps across the attacker and takes the attacker out.

“Milner's right leg comes across, doesn't play the ball then, for me, takes the attacker out with a trip.

"For me, it’s the defender’s actions that cause the attacker to go down when his right leg steps across him.”

Assistant VAR Sian Massey-Phillips agrees with Gillett that a penalty should be awarded.

Pawson is called to the pitchside monitor and says: “Ah, there’s foot contact, isn’t there?”

Told by Pawson what his revised decision will be, Gillett says: “Confirmed.”

Mic'd Up presenter Michael Owen said he felt Milner should have had a red card.

But refs chief Howard Webb told him there was enough of a challenge for the ball to avoid a red.
