Two-goal Elisabeth Terland sparked a thrilling comeback – then rued the one that got away.
The Albion forward went top of the WSL goal-scoring charts with seven as she secured her side a 2-2 WSL draw at home to Leicester.
She then twice shot off target as the hosts chased an unlikely winner in 11 minutes of stoppage time before 1,954 fans at Broadfield Stadium.
Terland said: “I think I had the opportunity to win the game so I should have had one more.
“When we get the goal, we really step up and you can see we are winning more duels, we are on the front foot and there is a real belief that we are going to score another one and another one.”
The Norway international revived an increasingly frustrated home side on 82 minutes when she ran on to a long ball over the top by Maria Thorisdottir and produced an admirably calm finish with a defender at her back.
Then she added a stunning diving header after Pauline Bremer’s flick allowed Poppy Pattinson room to deliver a pinpoint cross.
Terland might even have won it during 11 minutes of stoppage time but dragged her best chance wide after a counter-attack beautifully worked between Katie Robinson and Guro Bergsvand.
Leicester went ahead in the 45th minutes with a superb finish from outside the area by Lena Petterman, although Albion were convinced she charged the ball down with her hand before letting fly.
They doubled their lead 20 seconds into the second half as Jutta Rentala curled a beauty into the top corner after being found by Sam Tierney.
Maisie Symonds’ midfield quality led to a move from which Terland had a shot blocked behind, with Thorisdottir heading the subsequent corner straight at the keeper.
Terland did similarly when found by a cross from Robinson.
It felt Leicester had done a professional job as they ran the clock down until Terland changed the course and the mood of the afternoon.
Albion: Baggeley, Thorisdottir, Bergsvand, Kullberg, Rule, Pattinson, Symonds (Pinto 68), Sarri (Robinson 63, Bremer, Terland.
