Albion fans were in high spirits after the Seagulls defeated Nottingham Forest in a drama-filled match.

The Seagulls ended their six-game winless run by beating Forest 3-2 in a clash which saw skipper Lewis Dunk sent off.

An early opener from Forest's Anthony Elanga saw Albion fall behind, but a double from Joao Pedro and a goal from Evan Ferguson put Brighton 3-1 up.

However, Dunk saw red after VAR advised the referee to give Forest a penalty.

Although Morgan Gibbs-White scored from the spot, Forest could not find a leveller, with Brighton holding on for a much-needed win.

Even Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi was jubilant after the win, sprinting to the away fans at the City Ground without shaking his counterpart Steve Cooper's hand.

De Zerbi made no apologies for celebrating the victory "like the final in the Champions League" and said: "We are suffering a lot with injuries, we lost two players in the first half, we suffered a red card, we lost two points in the last games against Sheffield United and Fulham, the last win in the Premier League was at the end of September.

"We are suffering a lot because it is one of the toughest times in my career. It was a big, big celebration."

Yesterday's win against Nottingham Forest placed Brighton seventh in the Premier League, behind Newcastle and ahead of Manchester United.

Albion's next match is in the Europa League on Thursday, against AEK Athens at the Agia Sofia Stadium in Athens.
