Albion and Sheffield United played out a dramatic 1-1 stalemate as the Seagulls failed to withstand the Blades’ late charge having been reduced to ten men at the Amex, writes Anujit Vijayakumar.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men secured themselves an early lead courtesy of Simon Adingra.

The Cameroonian international put the hosts 1-0 up in the sixth minute to continue his remarkable form this season.

Adingra maximised his opportunity on the left channel as he drove infield from the left and combined with Facundo Buonanotte at the edge of the box before slotting the ball past Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham.

Kaoru Mitoma and Joao Pedro’s introduction after the interval ushered life into the Seagulls, who were beginning to get complacent, having acquired the lead.

However, they were unfortunate as Mahmoud Dahoud was shown a red card in the 68th minute for a challenge on Ben Osborn.

Shortly after, Sheffield United equalised as they found Jayden Bogle darting down the right wing, before the 23-year-old squared the ball across the six-yard box, where it found a stretching Webster.

Webster’s attempt to clear the ball unfortunately and  inadvertently found the back of the net.

The Seagulls, nonetheless, continued to exhibit the principles instilled in them by De Zerbi, but were unlucky in their attempts to secure a late winner.

Focus now turns to Nottingham Forest, who Albion will face in a fortnight, following the final international break of the year.
