Jan Paul van Hecke has been urged to push for senior international honours with Holland.
The Albion defender helped his side win 2-0 at Ajax with national team boss Ronald Koeman watching from the stands.
He is now likely to face an important defensive role against Sheffield United in the absence of skipper Lewis Dunk.
Koeman announced his latest squad yesterday and it included a first call for 17-year-old Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.
The other Ajax player selected was Brian Brobbey, the striker with whom van Hecke had such a good tussle in the Europa League.
Speaking after that match, Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi said: “I was right when i said he is a great player.
“He played a great game because Brobbey is a very good player and I think he is ready to play in the national team.
“I don’t want to speak about the Dutch national team because it’s not my job but I hope he can get in.”
