Bart Verbruggen has revealed the extra support he received as he kept a clean sheet at Ajax.

Albion’s Dutch goalkeeper had family and friends in the stands in Amsterdam.

But he was also backed by his former team-mates from Anderlecht.

Members of the Belgian club crossed the border to support the man who kept goal for them in the last three seasons.

Verbruggen said: “It was funny because I had ten, 15 family but then my old team, Anderlecht, came on their players’ coach. Twenty-five people, they were all here.

“I got the chance to see them after the game. It was good to see everybody.

“They texted me before the game. ‘We’re all coming’. It was nice to see them.

“I was happy to see everybody again.

“It is nice they still think of me and it is nice my family supports me the way they do. I’m a lucky guy!
