Albion will face a different, more attack-minded Ajax in Amsterdam than they did at the Amex.

John van’t Schip made that clear when he spoke to media today.

The Dutch side’s cautious approach in their 2-0 defeat a fortnight ago under Hedwiges Maduro surprised and disappointed those who follow them in the Netherlands.

Van’t Schip, who has taken over from Maduro, says they cannot play that way before their own fans.

He told reporters: “What has happened here before has happened.

“Things will be different to the away game.

“How exactly will show itself on the pitch.

“I understand how we approached the game there.

“We didn’t really get out up front, we have to improve on this.

“We will do differently tomorrow.

“You could see in Brighton, we didn’t create enough.

“Especially when you play at home at Ajax, you have to play an attacking style of football.

“That is at least our intention tomorrow.”

Ajax have won at home to Volendam and Heerenveen since van’t Schip took over but the Albion game is being seen as the biggest test yet.

He added: “It will be very interesting to see how we react against this quality of opponent and how will it show this trust we have gained.”
