Albion will, officially, be backed by 2,600 fans as they face Ajax in Amsterdam.

But it is expected that number will be swelled significantly by fans heading to the popular city without match tickets.

PC Darren Balkham, Sussex Police’s football liaison, will be in Amsterdam along with stewards from England, as happened when Albion played in Marseille.

Dutch police, experienced in handling sizeable groups arriving in party mood, will also be on hand.

The focal point for Albion fans will be The Dam, which is one of the city’s main squares and is close to Centraal Station.

Those who have tickets will be aware of arrangements to collect them in Amsterdam and are reminded the stadium itself is a cashless venue.

Fans are free to make their own way to and from the stadium, with the metro advised as the best option from the city centre.

The weather will obviously be rather different to what was experienced in Marseille.

Rain is forecast for Amsterdam on Wednesday afternoon and evening but it should be mainly dry on Thursday.

Temperatures will be around 10degC.
