Roberto De Zerbi says Albion face a “very important” European night – as they look to tip the balance of results in their favour.

The head coach and his players have been asked about a five-game winless run in the Premier League after the battling 1-1 draw at Everton.

At the same time, they have only lost only once in their last six games in all competitions, and that was by a single goal at Manchester City.

Albion’s game at the Johann Cruyff Arena is potentially crucial to their hopes of progressing in the Europa League.

De Zerbi said: “We play another very important game on Thursday in Amsterdam stadium and we want to win. It is very important, that game.

“But we want to compete in the Premier League as well and we have to dar. We have to be stronger than last season.

“This season is different and I think we are fighting in a good way.”

De Zerbi will prepare his squad at Lancing today ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Amsterdam, where they will train at the Johann Cruyff Arena on the eve of the match.

Meanwhile Albion’s under-21s can secure their passage to the knockout stages of the Papa John’s Trophy tonight.

A win at Forest Green, be it over 90 minutes or in a penalty shoot-out, would be enough.
