Chuba Akpom says he is enjoying his football with Ajax – after a “horrible” first two months.
The former Albion forward has three goals in his last two games as the Amsterdam giants return to winning ways.
They have enjoyed home successes over Volendam and Heerenveen since John van’t Schip took over as head coach.
Akpom, who has been coming off the bench, scored a late header against Volendam and struck twice to make sure of the win over Heerenveen.
He said: “The new coach gave me confidence right away, really right on the first day.
“As a result, I felt more at home at Ajax than in the past two months combined.
“The first two months were horrible, to be honest.
“I didn't play, we didn't win. I was on my own in a hotel. It was stressful."
Akpom says Van’t Schip is strong when it comes to man-management.
The summer signing from Middlesbrough added: “He spoke to me like a human being. We are footballers, but we are first and foremost human beings.
“For example, he asked me how I settled here in the Netherlands."
