John van 't Schip will be in charge of Ajax when they face Albion.

The 59-year-old was introduced today as new interim coach.

He takes over with the Amsterdam giants bottom of the Eredivisie after a 5-2 hammering at leaders PSV.

Hedwiges Maduro stood in for last week’s Europa League game at the Amex and the trip to Eindhoven after the dismissal of Maurice Steijn.

Van’t Schip had a stint as caretaker boss of Ajax in 2009 when he took over from the sacked Marco van Basten.

He enjoyed a distinguished playing career as a winger for Ajax, Genoa and Holland and helped the Dutch club win two European trophies.

Most recently he was in charge of the Greece national team.

Van’t Schip was born in Canada and speaks English, Italian and Spanish.

Ajax have two league games, both at home, before they face the Seagulls next week.

They play fellow strugglers Volendam on Thursday and mid-table Heerenveen on Sunday.
