Roberto De Zerbi has told Albion fans they know what to do on a big European night.

The Seagulls boss expects passionate backing from the stands at a sold-out Amex when his team take on Ajax in the Europa League tonight (8pm).

Albion are bottom of Group B and need a win after taking one point from the opening two fixtures.

Fans have been urged to provide a wall of noise as well as a stunning blue and white backdrop, with the club issuing a call for them to take and display Albion scarves from any era.

De Zerbi said: “The fans don’t need to listen to anything from me because they know they are very important for us, for my players.

“They understand the moment we have now. They have to be proud for the players. The players are fantastic guys.

“They are working harder than last season because they want to compete in the right way, in our way, in the Brighton way.

“Sometimes it can happen to lose a game and we are sad when we lose because we want to make our fans happy every game in every competition.

“At home and away, nothing changes for us.”

De Zerbi confirmed a serious knee injury for Solly March and, more unexpectedly, said Danny Welbeck’s muscular issue would keep also him out long-term.

He said: “Solly is injured, Danny Welbeck as well, but we are enough to play, to win the game.

“Solly is unfortunately very, very tough injury, a very important injury.

“We lose him for a long period and for Welbeck the same.”
