Albion suffered some deja vu as they went down to a third successive WSL defeat.

The Seagulls were beaten 4-2 at Chelsea but will take a few positive aspects into the international break.

As against Tottenham the previous week, they took an early lead and frustratingly conceded an equaliser deep into first-half added time.

And, like last week, Elisabeth Terland was on target, taking her tally to five goals in as many games.

Frank Kirby hit the bar before Albion stunned Kingsmeadow on ten minutes.

Pauline Bremer opened the scoring after a fine move which led to Katie Robinson delivering a great ball in from the Albion right.

The visitors then weathered a lot of pressure, including some fine saves from Sophie Baggaley and a goal-line clearance from Maria Thorisdottir.

Just when it looked like Albion would reach the interval with a slender lead, Sjoeke Nusken headed the leveller.

Nusken went on to complete a hat-trick before teeing up Aggie Beevor-Jones for the fourth as Chelsea took total control.

There was still time for Terland to offer late consolation after a pass by Maisie Symonds.

Terland and fellow striker Madison Haley both started on the bench with Bremer leading the attack.

Three players made their first WSL starts for the Seagulls.

Jorelyn Carabali played on the left of a back three and Li Mengwen was at right wing-back while Tatiana Pinto operated in midfield.

Albion boss Melissa Phillips said: “We have not got the result we wanted but we have been organised and competitive and unfortunately - and in the last game - we have conceded goals at really tough times.”

Action resumes on Sunday, November 5 when Albion host Manchester United.

Albion: Baggaley; Thorisdottir, Bergsvand, Carabali; Mengwen (Rule 67). Losada, Pinto, Kullberg; Robinson (Sarri 67), Lee (Terland 59), Bremer (Haley 77).
