Roberto De Zerbi explained why Albion improved at Manchester City – and threatened to take a point.

The Seagulls were run ragged in the first half of their 2-1 defeat at the Etihad.

Ansu Fati’s goal rewarded an improved performance in the second period.

De Zerbi said: “We can speak in two parts of the game.

“The first half there wasn’t chance to play against City because when City play like in the first half it is very tough for Brighton, for everyone.

“In the second half, we played better.

“I think we played with more energy, with more courage, with more personality.

“We kept order on the pitch, especially without the ball.

“I think we had two, three chances to score again.”
