Lewis Dunk earned a third England cap – and helped keep a clean sheet.
The Albion skipper played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 friendly win over Australia at Wembley.
He produced a solid, composed and confident performance in a much-changed side – with one particularly eye-catching moment.
Dunk, as left-sided centre-back, found himself between two former Albion colleagues.
He had Fikayo Tomori to his right while Levi Colwill was at left-back on his senior international debut.
Dunk had plenty of the ball in a goalless first half and kept his side on level terms just before the break when he got back behind his goalkeeper and appeared to be the man who diverted Ryan Strain's shot to safety.
England went ahead through Ollie Watkins early in the second half.
Dunk was still forward from a free-kick which had been cleared.
Trent Alexander-Arnold played the ball back in, seemingly looking for Dunk beyond the far post.
The ball cleared the Albion man and was drilled across goal by Jack Grealish for Watkins to force it home past Maty Ryan.
John Stones replaced Tomori as Dunk’s partner when Gareth Southgate made four changes on the hour.
A spirited Australia side asked a few questions, notably set set-pieces, but there was to be no late blemish.
Bart Verbruggen and Evan Ferguson started for their countries but had disappointing nights in Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Verbruggen made his senior international debut as he kept goal for the Netherlands in their 2-1 defeat by France.
The Albion man was the 800th player capped by Holland but came in for some criticism for not stopping Kylian Mbappe’s early opener.
The game was played at the Johan Cruyff Arena, which Albion will visit to take on Ajax next month.
Ferguson led the Republic of Ireland’s attack and played the 90 minutes as they went down 2-0 at home to Gus Poyet’s Greece in Dublin.
Albion midfielder Yasin Ayari helped Sweden under-21s beat Moldova 4-0 in a Euro qualifier.
Andrew Moran, on loan to Blackburn, played for the Republic of Ireland under-21s as they won 2-1 in Latvia.
Adrian Mazilu, who will join Albion in January, helped Romania under-21s beat Armenia 2-0.
