Melissa Phillips has a bit to think about after giving more Albion players chance to shine ahead of a big date at the Amex.

The Seagulls head coach made nine changes to her XI at Birmingham City last night.

She saw her side win 3-0 in their opening Conti Cup group fixture.

Charlize Rule’s header set them on course.

Substitutes Katie Robinson and Elisabeth Terland, with her third in as many games, wrapped up the scoring in the second half.

Albion now prepare to face Tottenham at the Amex on Sunday (4pm).

Among the starters last night were summer signings Li Mengwen, Jorelyn Carabali and goalkeeper Nicky Evrard, all enjoying their first minutes for the club.

Portugal midfielder Tatiana Pinto started the game having come on as sub in the two league fixtures to date.

Phillips named the same XI for both league games, which saw her side win at Everton and lose at home to West Ham.

But she has also stressed the importance of her subs, notably in seeing out the 2-1 win on Merseyside.

Meanwhile Tottenham tuned up for the Amex with a 6-0 win at home to Reading in the Conti Cup, helped by six different goalscorers.
