Albion produced an up-and-down display, including some of their best football of the season, as they drew with Liverpool.

Amid plenty of line-up changes once again, the team unit clicked impressively but ended up having to chase the game.

Bart Verbruggen 7/10

Very confident with his footwork – but ill-advised with the pass to Gross for the second Liverpool goal? Handling was good.

Joel Veltman 7/10

Was too clever for Diaz on several occasions and put in a pretty strong shift at right-back.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

As at Marseille, made up for a costly error – with a goal this time rather than goal-saving challenge. Helped give Verbruggen decent protection for the most part and was an occasional threat at set-pieces.

Igor Julio 7/10

His best performance yet for the club until limping off. Is as uncompromising as he looks but also with some good footwork.

Solly March 8.5/10

Latest to take the left-back role and combined a good display against Salah – whose goals did not come in direct opposition to March – with a contribution going forward. Won and whipped in the free-kick for Dunk’s goal, when he WAS fouled, despite what De Zerbi said.

Carlos Baleba 8/10

Feel free to be excited about this teen talent. He was a powerful, authoritative presence getting around the park. There are occasions when he looks raw and more questions might have been asked about his concentration when Gravenberch was left with an open goal had the chance not been missed. But he has the potential to be a huge player - and huge crowd favourite.

Pascal Gross 7/10

Always does good stuff in knitting play together from midfield and assumed responsibility for taking the ball from the keeper - but lapsed on the penalty which put Liverpool ahead and was fortunate not to get a yellow card in the process.

Simon Adingra 8/10

Such a livewire on the right and offers great excitement. Passed the ball into the net for a calmly taken opener and, though his crossing can be of mixed quality, laid on what should have been the winner.

Joao Pedro 7/10

Good movement in general play and at a clever corner routine early on and always gives Albion something a bit different. But, while deadly from the penalty spot, needs to be more clinical in open pay and wasted a great chance for the winner.

Kaoru Mitoma 6/10

Offered some threat down the left as Albion chased the game and almost forced a penalty with what looked a sliced, wayward finish.

Evan Ferguson 6/10

A game which involved a lot of movement off the ball which did not necessarily lead to involvement on it. But, amid a generally a quiet display, he conjured the pass of the match to release Adingra.

SUBS – Danny Welbeck N/A

Was one for the later stages to help chase a reward.

Jan Paul van Hecke – N/A

Did a solid job after relieving the injured Igor.

Ansu Fati – N/A

Very little chance to shine but one clever dummy from a throw-in, which fooled everyone including Welbeck, sticks in the memory.
