Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi hopes there is not extra pressure on officials when his side face Liverpool.

The two clubs meet at the Amex on Sunday as they return to domestic action.

Liverpool were denied a goal at Tottenham on Saturday by an incorrect VAR offside decision.

The fall-out has continued into European week with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp suggesting the game be replayed.

Albion suffered a similar injustice last season at Crystal Palace.

Head coach De Zerbi suggested he is wary of how the Liverpool controversy might affect the build-up to Sunday’s match.

Speaking at the Stade Velodrome last night he said: “I hope the referee of the next game, because we play against Liverpool, will be without pressure or anyway not so much pressure because it ‘s right that the next game starts without any pressure about the last game.

“I have a big respect for Klopp but last season we lost many points for referees’ decisions.

“I think it can happen because referees are human like me.

“Maybe they make less mistakes than me and the coaches.

“But for sure when there are these situations it is very tough to accept and I can understand Klopp.”
