Midfielders Pascal Gross and Jakub Moder were involved in training with Albion ahead of the trip to France.

Both were shown on the club’s website and social platforms taking part in what looked like a warm-up part of yesterday’s session.

Albion fly to Provence this afternoon ahead of the Europa League game at Marseille.

Moder has been out for 18 months with a knee injury but could be seen stretching and playing a pass.

While his return is good news in the longer term, Gross’s state of fitness is potentially relevant to the Marseille game.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said on Friday that Gross would be “pushing” to play but that no risks would be taken.

De Zerbi is likely to offer a progress report on the German when he speak to the media this evening at Stade Veledrome.

Albions under-21s host Valencia in the Premier League International Cup at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre this evening (7.30pm).
