Albion suffered their heaviest defeat in the Premier League.

And these long-time fans found it hard to take much of a positive nature from the afternoon.

We asked for their thoughts on the 6-1 hammering at Aston Villa.

Then we shifted the focus to France. How does Roberto De Zerbi get his side back on track in time for Marseille tomorrow.

1. What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance at Aston Villa?

Tim Ayling: Words fail me really. We didn't turn up at all, and Emery did a number on RDZ. On the plus side, maybe the media will stop talking about us as title contenders and stop pimping our players and manager around to the Big Six.

Alan Brownings: It’s Villa Park and has come to be expected, although the nature of the collapse this time around was very disappointing.

James Heasman: Absolutely appalling. Shocking decision tactically not to match up with Villa in midfield, they were far stronger than us, won every loose ball and it was a physical mismatch. Defensively, the entire team had an off-day, and I was surprised to see Ferguson and Welbeck starting together, especially after the dire first 45 minutes versus Bournemouth. It was so disappointing.

2. Did anyone emerge with any credit for the Seagulls?

Tim Ayling: I thought the first half was Aston Villa vs Billy Gilmour. Fati and Pedro played okay in the second half. Apart from that, it was a debacle.

Alan Brownings: Joao Pedro and Adingra, who both came on as substitutes. Unfortunately prior to their introduction we were toothless.

James Heasman: Not really. Jack Hinshelwood was probably the only one, and Joao Pedro was okay when he came on.

3. How does De Zerbi change things and lift his team for Marseille?

Tim Ayling: He needs to start Baleba in midfield, never play Ferguson and Welbeck as a partnership as it never works, start Mitoma, Fati, Pedro and either Welbeck or Ferguson. And Jan Paul van Hecke with Dunk please. I know we have three games a week, but we're rotating too much. The other teams in Europe don't seem to be rotating like we are.

Alan Brownings: Show them the tape of the game a few times, concentrate on doing the simple things well and get back to basics.

James Heasman: The thrashing won’t do us any harm. We were getting quite a lot of (arguably too much) positive publicity, and maybe we were starting to believe it a little. I would certainly look to work on our defensive shape without the ball, as there seemed a huge gap between the CBS and midfield.
