Melissa Phillips believes there is better to come from Albion in the WSL after they kicked off the season with a win.

Two goals from Elisabeth Terland inside 15 minutes secured a 2-1 success at Everton on the opening weekend.

A whirlwind summer has seen 11 new players arrive and five of the existing squad sign new contracts while ten have left permanently and a further three gone out on loan.

Albion boss Phillips said: "There is always going to be building and growing that needs to happen throughout the season, it's going to be a journey but getting three points here builds belief.”

Terland headed home the rebound after just four minutes when Katie Robinson fired against the bar.

The Norway forward then finished off Robinson’s run and clever pass.

Everton pushed hard to get back in the game after the break and Megan Finnigan fired home from a poorly defended corner on 66 minutes.

But Albion’s substitutions restored a degree of control for the closing stages.

Summer addition Vicky Losada skippered the side and fellow newcomers Charlize Rule and Tatiana Pinto both impressed off the bench.

Phillips said: “The strength of the squad is really incredible."
