Albion fans were in low spirits after a bad day at Villa Park for Brighton.

Supporters made their way to the Midlands hopeful of a good performance after trouble with trains made getting to the game a task fraught with frustration.

However, they could not enjoy their away day as a 6-1 hammering from Aston Villa made for a sobering experience for the Seagulls.

Fans arrived at the game raring to see Brighton and filled the away end with blue and white.

The mood quickly changed, though, after Albion found themselves 3-0 down inside the first half hour largely in part to Ollie Watkins.

Despite Ansu Fati's consolation goal, Albion’s fifth consecutive loss to Aston Villa made for difficult viewing for many fans who appeared shocked by the landslide result.

Another, more exciting away day awaits Albion fans this Thursday as thousands will make their away across the channel to cheer the team on in Marseille.

The Seagulls then return to the Amex in a week’s time for a test against Liverpool.
