Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson praised “intelligent” Andrew Moran after the loanee turned on the style in the Carabao Cup.

The 19-year-old on loan from Albion scored his first senior goals in English football to help Rovers beat Cardiff 5-2.

He scored twice, had a hand in two more goals and forced a penalty, which was saved.

Tomasson said of Moran: “A a great player, first of all. He scores goals, he can give assists.

“He’s intelligent, his flair on the ball is extremely good, to carry the ball, he’s good to play one or two touches. He works hard for the team.

“A young boy, young man, who is also very driven. He wants to become better, he is very ambitious. So we are very pleased with Andy.”

The tie was evenly poised at 2-2 at half-time but Moran spearheaded a second-half onslaught.

He profited from woeful defending to score his first, doubled his tally and Blackburn’s lead in the 54th minute with a spectacular long-range effort and then teed up Dilan Markanday.
