Albion fans rejoiced as the Seagulls came from behind to beat Bournemouth 3-1.

It was a glorious sunny Sunday as Bournemouth made the two-hour trip along the South Coast to the Amex Stadium in Falmer.

There was nervous trepidation as the Cherries took the lead in the first half through Dom Solanke after a rare goalkeeping error from Bart Verbruggen in goal.

Bournemouth executed their game plan to perfection for the majority of the first half and it looked as if the result may be a repeat of the 3-2 defeat to AEK Athens on Thursday.

But Albion were given a lifeline when Billy Gilmour swung in a cross which Kerkez nodded past Bournemouth keeper Neto two minutes into added time of the first half.

Many fans had gone into the concourses to get their pies and pints at the half time interval.

De Zerbi brought on Kaoru Mitoma in place of youngster Bounanotte at half time.

It turned out to be an inspired substitution with the Japanese winger scoring 17 seconds after Bournemouth’s kick off.

Mitoma secured the three points with a glancing header from a Pervis Estupinan cross 77 minutes in to all but seal the three points.

Albion travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday to play Chelsea in the EFL Cup before a trip to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa on Saturday.
