Albion overcame a test to beat Bournemouth at the Amex.

Whether their first-half troubles were down to collective or individual lapses – and a good Cherries set-up – can be debated.

But this is how the home side performed as individuals in the 3-1 success.

Bart Verbruggen 6/10

Very much in the spotlight with the ball at his feet. Whether it was him being too slow or a lack of options is open to debate but the ball got stuck with him at times and paid a price. Made a sharp save low down in the second half.

Joel Veltman 7/10

Offers a combative and steadying presence down that side and was among those looking to fire things up in a sedate first half.

Adam Webster 7/10

Back in the defence and had a lot early touches. By and large did well and had a shot blocked in the goalmouth ahead of the equaliser.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

His presence gives crowd and players such a lift. Solid at the back and should have hit the target with a header.

Pervis Estupinan 7/10

An all-action presence again and, while not everything came off, he produced a positive performance and a superb cross for the third goal. Saved a goal with a fine block.

The Argus:

Billy Gilmour 8/10

His cross somehow handed Albion a lifeline. He was a busy midfield presence and delivered dangerous corners, one of which should really have been headed in by Dunk.

Mahmoud Dahoud 7/10

While not asserting midfield authority, there were some good moments, notably a lovely touch in the second Albion goal. Looked he wanted to get the ball in behind Bournemouth.

Facundo Buonanotte 5/10

Probably a surprise starter and there was no lack of determination or commitment but he was unable to unbalance things down that side and his one shot was tamely hit.

Danny Welbeck 6/10

An industrious performer who did some good work in build-play.

Simon Adingra 7/10

Started on the left but was more dangerous on apparently his less-favoured right. Unpredictable and a bit inconsistent from one moment to the next but can certainly make things happen.

Evan Ferguson 5/10

Was well enough to return but performance was a bit off colour as he struggled to get hold of the ball. Had one shot which was comfortably saved.

Subs - Kaoru Mitoma 9/10

A sensational reaction to being benched. Albion players will get used to rotation this season and this is just the way to respond. Looked revitalised - and clinical in front of goal, which hasn’t always been the case.

Ansu Fati 7/10

Involved in that stunning start to the second half as he won possession back and, while he did not kick on from there to really dazzle, continues to excite for the months ahead.

The Argus:

Carlos Baleba N/A

Won the ball back for the third goal and did a lot of positive work. Looks like he will offer midfield presence.

Joao Pedro N/A

Roamed around in dangerous pockets and was quite lively.

Tariq Lampey N/A

On near the end to play ahead of Veltman.
