AEK boss Matias Almeyda says Albion are playing the most attractive football he has seen.

But, when asked by Greek media last night, he said the rain can’t help the Seagulls.

The Argentinean did not give much away regarding his line-up for tonight’s game amid various injury doubts.

But he confirmed Croatia centre-back Domagoj Vida will miss out and Gerasimos Mitoglu will replace him.

Almeyda, the former River Plate and Argentina midfielder, said: “Football is 11 versus 11 knowing that this is a very hard game.

“We will try to play the football we normally play.

“But we are conscious that in front of us that we have a team who play the most attractive football in the world.

“I say this because they do not have huge names compared to other teams but they have a way of playing. This for me makes it even better.”

Almeyda kept a close eye on Albion’s 3-1 win at Manchester United.

As, it appeared, did the Greek media.

Almeyda said: “He made changes against Manchester and the players who came in do things in the way as those he left out.”

Then he added with a laugh: “And they scored three!”

AEK trained in torrential rain yesterday evening and Almeyda was asked whether continued bad weather would help Albion.

He said: “In football there are no excuses. If it rains, it rains for both teams.”
