Roberto De Zerbi said Albion are in “the best way” to tackle their European challenge.

But they cannot let the magnitude of the occasion adversely affect their work on an emotional night at the Amex.

The Seagulls face AEK Athens in their first Europa League fixture.

It will be the Greek club’s 268th game in Europe, over a span of 60 years, although they have lost nine of the 12 they played against English opposition.

De Zerbi has prepared his side against a backdrop of their superb 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

He said: “One of the best performances in my time, not in this season.

“But the game with United is finished. We have a completely different game, maybe against different disposition from the opponent, different difficulty.

“We reach this moment in the best way I think but anyway we have to forget.”

De Zerbi is aware of the special nature of the occasion but wants his side to make it the norm.

He added: “It will be a different day with different emotions but we have to keep our eye on the ball, on the game, keeping our style, keeping our attitude.

“We want to win and we want to play in the same way. To get better we have to think of this as a normal game.”
