Joel Veltman says Albion will move into a new world when they kick-off their European campaign.
But he would love to see them celebrate the occasion with a clean sheet.
The Seagulls are preparing to host AEK Athens at the Amex tomorrow (8pm) amid what is likely to be a fervent atmosphere Veltman is among the players who have a wealth of European experience – with Ajax in his case.
He believes players not used to continental competition will notice a different feel to the occasion.
Veltman, who played in the 2017 Europa League final, said: “It is going to be a big one for the club.
“It’s huge, I would say - first time in Europe.
“A nice home game as well.
“Is it different. 100%, everything.
“We have a couple of good lads who played in Europe so it’s really good for the experience.
“The theme song goes before the game, different supporters, different teams, different playing styles.
“It is going to be totally different again.’’ High-scoring Albion are off to a flying start to the Premier League campaign.
But a long-range finish from Hannibal Mejbri in the 3-1 success at Manchester United means they have still not kept a clean sheet since winning 3-0 at Arsenal last season.
Veltman said: “We can do better. Every game we say we want a clean sheet.
“But, if I had to pick winning 3-1, I would take it, of course.
“We are really focussing on a clean sheet but against United, keep less chances against you, that’s already good.”
