Kaoru Mitoma’s breath-taking solo effort at Wolves has been crowned the Premier League’s goal of the month for August.
He is the first Japanese player to win a monthly Prem award.
Mitoma burst between defenders, holding off a couple of attempted fouls on the way, before guiding a precise finish across keeper Jose Sa.
The goal was voted best of the month by a combination of public votes and the views of an expert panel.
It was scored in the same Molineux net as his first Albion goal and has set a strong early pace for the goal of the season award.
Mitoma was also nominated for the player of the month award won by James Maddison, whose Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglu took the manager’s prize.
Albion under-21s striker Mark O’Mahony was in the running for the PL2 player of the month award won by five-goal Fulham forward Martial Godo.
