Jan Paul van Hecke started in place of Adam Webster and ended the 3-1 win over Newcastle delighting Albion fans, writes Carlos Acosta Juckes.
He proved to the boss he deserves game time as he displayed a good performance in the 90 minutes he played.
The defender delivers every time the chance is given and keeps working hard to gain a place in the starting eleven.
It was a solid game, aware of everything going on with an intervention in the opening minute of the game when it looked Newcastle could take the lead.
Alongside Lewis Dunk, van Hecke was responsible of playing the ball from the back and taking more risk than any other player.
The plan was executed perfectly and both players were remarkably good.
Isak and Joelinton barely any chances to convert given their solidarity at back.
Especially the Swede, who got frustrated after constantly finding a wall in front of him.
Van Hecke will be disappointed with the way Callum Wilson ruined the clean sheet in stoppage time.
But the potential is there and, if given time and opportunities, success is almost certain at the club.
