Albion are expected to sign Barcelona forward Ansu Fati on a season-long loan move.
It has been reported that an agreement was made between the clubs last night.
The move would not include an option to buy.
The 20-year-old is said to be flying over around lunchtime, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
However, The Argus understands that no deal has yet been completed
Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Spanish international but he is understood to have been impressed by Brighton's style of play under Roberto De Zerbi.
Albion also have European football unlike Spurs this season.
While Brighton are normally not in favour of loan moves, the recent knee injury for midfielder Julio Enciso has left the club needing another attacking option.
Fati signed a six year contract with Barcelona in 2021 which included a €1 billion euro buyout clause.
The winger inherited the number ten from Lionel Messi when he left for PSG in 2021, suggesting the faith the Catalonian club have in him.
He has scored 22 goals and provided 6 assists in 80 Barcelona appearances, many of which have been substitute appearances.
Fati has suffered with multiple injuries in his short career.
In November 2020, he suffered a meniscus injury which left him out for almost a year. While in the 2021/22 season he was out for four months with two separate hamstring injuries.
Last season he managed to stay injury free.
