Roberto De Zerbi is eyeing another signing after Julio Enciso was ruled out.
Enciso will miss an unspecified period due to a knee injury.
Head coach De Zerbi said he will be out for "a longer period". but would not specify a timeframe.
Asked whether the absence could be for three to months, he said: "I don't know but it can happen, this period."
Enciso starred in last week’s 4-1 win at Wolves.
De Zerbi said: "Unfortunately it can happen in football. I am sorry for him because he was playing very well but football is like this sometimes.
"Before the injury of Julio, my focus has been on other attackers.
"Especially now, without Julio, I think we need another player."
De Zerbi has made it clear he wants a Moises Caicedo type midfielder but was not drawn on links with Carlos Baleba at Lille.
He sees Enciso as a No.10 although he has also played wide.
De Zerbi said today: "We have many options in midfielder position, we have many options in attackers - anyway, No.10.
"But I don't know the real situation."
