Mark Robins has hinted he will hand Yasin Ayari a central role at Coventry City.
The 19-year-old midfielder has joined the Sky Blues on a season-long loan in pursuit of regular first team football.
He follows in the footsteps of Swedish compatriot Viktor Gyokeres, who moved from Albion to Coventry initially on loan before making things more permanent.
Gyokeres is now in Lisbon with Sporting after a high-profile summer transfer.
The expectation is Albion will look to take Ayari back into their ranks and his progress will be carefully monitored.
Coventry boss Robins said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Yasin to Coventry City.
“He is a versatile player who can play across the midfield area, but predominantly central, and is technically adept too with pace and energy.”
Ayari believes he will fit in well at Coventry, who lost in the Championship play-off final last season.
They are off to sound start with four points from three games.
Ayari said: “I’ve been watching because of Viktor and I watched bits of last season when they did really well and I really like the style of play.
“He’s a really good player and he showed it last year and he showed the club is doing a really good job and it wasn’t a hard decision for me to come here.
“I think it’s an amazing club with amazing fans and when I spoke to the coach I fell in love with the style of play.”
