Carlos Baleba was expected to train with Lille today, despite interest from Albion.
The clubs were in discussion but had reached no agreement over a transfer for the midfielder, it was reported.
La Voix Du Nord newspaper in northern France said Baleba was not expected to travel to England to complete a deal as things stood last night.
Albion are keen to add a midfielder after the departure of Moises Caicedo.
