Billy Gilmour was praised for “incredible” qualities after starring on his return to the Albion midfield.
The Scottish schemer, who started the 6-0 win over Wolves at the Amex last season, was recalled at Molineux in place of Mahmoud Dahoud.
He shone with and without the ball and a highlight moment was his pass ahead of the third goal.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “Gilmour is a very smart player. He has an incredible attitude, incredible behaviour.
“He plays like an older player but he’s a young player.
“He’s improving a lot and he’s a completely different player to when I came to Brighton.”
Dahoud started the opening fixture at Luton and went on as sub towards the end to help see through the win at Wolves.
De Zerbi said: “Mahmoud Dahoud is a top player. Last year he only played nine games and he needs more match time to find his best physical condition.
“He needs more time to understand the different football idea.”
