Moises Caicedo's future remained unclear as the two Premier League clubs who want him met on the pitch today.
Liverpool were still the only club to have had an offer for Caicedo accepted by Albion as of this afternoon.
But the expectation is now that Chelsea will end up signing him.
Speaking ahead of today’s match at Stamford Bridge, former Albion defender Matt Upson said Caicedo would be a great fit for Liverpool.
He told BBC 5Live: “I look at the team and the word balance just screams at me.
“Successful Liverpool teams under Klopp have that had balance right.
“The player in there who just wants to defend at times and sit in and fill holes and block passes.
“They don’t have that in the team, certainly not in the central area or in wide attacking areas.
“And they have got a right-back who likes to play as an attacking player.
“I think they are absolutely screaming out for a player like Caicedo. What a fit he would be in this team at the moment!”
Upson later said he felt signing Caicedo would allow Liverpool to play Alexis Mac Allister further forward, which would better suit him.
Robert Sanchez, who recently signed from the Seagulls, played in goal for Chelsea as the sides shared a 1-1 draw.
