Solly March has been urged to target a 15-goal haul this season.
The Albion wideman is up and running after his header helped beat Luton 4-1.
March scored eight goals last season, all of them after Christmas Day.
Roberto De Zerbi wants him to maintain that pace over a full campaign.
The Seagulls head coach said: “I think he has to fix his target to score 15 goals.
“If Mitoma and Solly March score ten goals per player, I think our target is closer.”
De Zerbi said he could not comment on a contentious penalty award against Lewis Dunk for handball, having not seen the incident.
But he felt the spot kick his side were awarded for a foul on Joao Pedro was justified.
He said: “I think the first penalty on Joao was clear.
“I think the referee was good.”
