James Milner started Albion's season at right-back with a solid performance, writes Carlos Acosta Juckes.
The 37-year-old will have a big role and Roberto De Zerbi put his trust on him to secure the right-hand side of the pitch in the 4-1 win against Luton.
It is a role with which Milner is familiar as he played a total of seven Premier League matches as a right back last season.
Milner brought many positive aspects to the game as freely moved to the centre midfield and had the energy to run back and forwards throughout the game, capable of cancelling out Elijah Adebayo.
With Mahmoud Dahoud in the midfield, the No.6 is preferred in the right back as Milner provided the experience that any other player could possibly give as well as the aggression and defensive qualities that possesses.
Milner, who was subbed in the 78th minute, felt the appreciation from the fans with a standing ovation as he made way for Joel Veltman.
