Roberto De Zerbi has told rivals they cannot buy Albion's soul – as he plans to move on from Moises Caicedo.
The Seagulls have agreed a £111 million fee with Liverpool for the Ecuador star.
Albion are preparing for their Premier League opener against Luton Town.
De Zerbi said: “I've already forgotten Moises.
“I’m really proud of the players we have in the squad.
“I think we have to complete the squad.
“We want to improve the squad because we lost Mac Allister, we lost Colwill, maybe we lose Caicedo, but I think we have to be ready.
“When players leave it is because they played well but the credit is for the club, the players, for us the coaches.
“I think the big clubs can buy the players but they can’t buy our soul and our spirit.
“That is not on the market and this more important than the players when they leave.”
De Zerbi goes into the Luton game without Caicedo.
He added: "We are enough today to play tomorrow.
"We need to see if we need someone more but I believe in my club and the recruiting of my club.
"We will see in the last 15 days of August."
