Joao Pedro has been told to make the most of his “incredible” potential as he prepares for his Albion debut.
The Brazilian forward is expected to start against Luton – and his old boss Rob Edwards – tomorrow.
He shone in pre-season and excited fans with his performance against Rayo Vallecano at the Amex.
Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “The potential of Joao Pedro is incredible and I want him to push every day, every game.
“He has to demand of himself more and more because he can score, he can play like a No.9, like a No.10.
“He is powerful, he is technical, he understands the play.
“He is a new player and we have to give him and the other new players the right time to understand.
“But I am happy for Joao, as well as (James) Milner and the other new players.”
Joao Pedro can offer Albion a different dimension in attack.
De Zerbi said: “He is different to (Evan) Ferguson or Julio (Enciso) and also (Adam) Lallana.
“Maybe he is closer to (Danny) Welbeck but I think they can also play together, like in the first half (versus Rayo).
“Welbeck is a very smart player. He can play in different positions and he is able to give me more solutions.”
