Albion fans got their first look at several new signings in the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

And there were some encouraging signs for Seagulls supporters ahead of the new Premier League season.

Carlos Acosta Juckes takes a look at the new men....

Joao Pedro – Made his Amex debut with a goal as he played 70 minutes and took his first home outing as an opportunity to shine and excite Albion fans. The forward had the courage to dribble no matter the situation he faced and a goal from the penalty spot showed the composure the player can bring after taking responsibility. Not only that, the other quality Pedro showed in this short period of time was a good work ethic. The Brazilian’s pressure made Rayo Vallecano´s defence lose possession of the ball in several times. Despite the young age and inexperience, Pedro showed determination to beat his man and attempt to score. Good link up with Welbeck during the first half.

Mahmoud Dahoud – Made an immaculate debut in front of his own fans. On his first test, he played 75 minutes and displayed composure and a sense of security. The German player intercepted balls constantly and took care of the ball movement. Very accurate and rarely misplaced a pass.

Bart Verbruggen – The Dutch keeper played the second half of the game, but it proved a quiet game for Verbruggen as he only had to save one shot in 45 minutes. However, he showed calmness when the ball got to his feet.

Simon Adingra – The Ivorian had his first minutes in an Albion shirt at home as he came on in the 63rd minute. Portrayed himself as an electric player who had no fear to challenge the opponent. Enough talent to gain a secondary role during the season.

Igor Julio – Julio came out on the last half an hour to replace the captain. A difficult task that he solved with ease. The Brazilian player has an advantage upon the other forwards given the big built he possesses, which allowed him to win most of the challenges.

James Milner – Warm welcome for Milner as he received a standing ovation as he warmed up during the first half. De Zerbi placed the player at left-back instead of in the midfield but showed how versatile the No.6 will be during the season. The 37-year-old had no pre-season mentality, coming into the game with a serious attitude and completing all his challenges effectively. All is in his favour to become a favourite within the fans.
