Robert Sanchez has completed his move to Chelsea.
The Albion goalkeeper has signed a seven-year deal and heads to Stamford Bridge for an undisclosed fee reported at £25 million.
He links up with his former Seagulls coach Ben Roberts and his follow Spain squad member Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Announcing the deal, Albion referenced Sanchez’s ten-year association with the club.
They initially signed him for their academy after spotting him playing youth football in Valencia.
Sanchez was propelled into the first team by former boss Graham Potter and appeared to have a big future.
However he was himself replaced by Roberto De Zerbi, who felt Jason Steele better suited his way of playing.
Sanchez’s final game on the bench was the 5-1 hammering by Everton, after which De Zerbi kept faith with Steele rather than making a change between the posts.
The disappointed young Spaniard declined to travel to the next match at Arsenal and was not involved in subsequent fixtures.
In today's announcement, De Zerbi said: "I’m sorry for the last period. Robert is a good guy and a really good player, but being a coach sometimes means making difficult and painful decisions for the team. I wish him good luck for the future.”
