Former Albion loanee Levi Colwill says he was given reassurance and trust by Mauricio Pochettino before signing a new six-year contract at Chelsea.
The England Under-21 international impressed last season with the Seagulls, who were keen to take him back.
But Colwill, who gave a farewell message to Albion, said talks with the new Stamford Bridge boss sealed the deal.
He told Chelsea’s website: “It’s always been an easy decision.
“As I’ve grown up, all I’ve known is Chelsea.
“I’ve spoken with the manager and he’s given me reassurance, that trust I needed.
“He’s spoken with me not just as a player but a person. It’s made a big difference.”
