Schoolchildren will be able to play basketball with professional coaching for free throughout next month.
Children between the age of seven and 15 can train at special sessions during the summer holidays with the help of coaches from across Sussex.
The sessions, led by coaches from the Community Basketball Initiative, were previously run before the Covid-19 pandemic and are now making a comeback.
Miguel Tello, lead coach for the CBI and former player for the Brighton Cougars, said: “Over the past few years we have really seen an increase in participation in basketball, possibly due to children watching the sport on YouTube and social media.

“There are many highlights of NBA games which have been adapted for the interest of kids. The amount of hours children watch basketball on their phones has really helped with the popularity of the sport.
“It is a cool sport and as soon as they give it a try, they love it. It’s a lot of fun and the team dynamics offer a lot of benefits to children and adults alike.”
The sessions will be held on Sunday August 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 12pm until 4pm at The Village in Brighton Marina.
