Chelsea’s latest bid for Moises Caicedo was dismissed out of hand.
The Ecuador star is linking up with the Albion squad as they prepare for three pre-season friendlies in the USA.
He appears to remain a target for Chelsea although they have so far come nowhere near reaching an agreement with the Seagulls.
Their latest offer was for £70 million and was immediately rejected.
The Argus were told on Sunday evening that the clubs were “miles apart” in terms of striking a deal which would take Caicedo to West London.
Their latest bid is understood to have still been a long way off Albion’s valuation.
There have been suggestions that Caicedo himself wants the move, although a diplomatic reply he gave in an interview in Ecuador was widely misinterpreted as him saying he could not say “No” to joining Chelsea.
