Levi Colwill remains Albion’s top target as they look to add a left-footed centre-back to their ranks for the new season.
The Seagulls are being linked with Fiorentina defender Igor and The Argus understands he is a player of interest to them.
Igor, a 25-year-old Brazilian, is composed on the ball and appears to fit the bill for Roberto De Zerbi.
But the head coach would love to team up again with Colwill, a player with whom he struck up a good relationship last season.
While Chelsea appear to have briefed media that Colwill is not available for a move, The Argus understands he would be keen on a return to the Amex.
The situation could develop as both clubs head to the USA for the next stage of pre-season.
They will meet in a friendly in Philadelphia at the weekend, although that could come too soon for Colwill or Chelsea target Moises Caicedo to be involved as both return from international duty.
