James Beadle will spend next season on loan at Oxford United.

The England under-20s goalkeeper is the first of what are likely to be many Albion youngsters heading out on experience-gaining temporary moves.

He is under contract with the Seagulls until June 2026 and has already travelled with the first team to Premier League fixtures.

Beadle impressed on loan to Crewe in the second half of last season and attracted interest from EFL clubs.

A loan move to the next level in the league structure always looked the most likely option with Bolton among those thought to be keen on his services.

Albion under-21s head coach Shannon Ruth said, “James enjoyed a really successful loan spell with Crewe last season, showing he is ready for the step-up to men’s football.

“We’re pleased to see one of our talented young goalkeepers getting the opportunity to show what he can do in League One.

“Sal Bibbo and Gordon Greer will be keeping a close eye on his progress and we wish him the best of luck for the season.”

Beadle played in England’s 0-0 draw with Iraq at the recent Under-20s World Cup in Argentina.
